# Data and Privacy

> At bunny.net, we take data privacy seriously. We’re committed to being fully transparent about the information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it secure.

## Bunny Stream & Bunny Player

Bunny Stream and Bunny Player are designed to avoid collecting or permanently storing user-identifying information for analytics or playback functionality. The player does not set cookies or transmit personally identifiable information (PII) as part of its playback or analytics features. To ensure optimal performance and reliability, the player may send anonymised technical telemetry, such as stream quality metrics, error reports, and buffering statistics. In addition, the embedded player (iframe) may communicate with bunny.net CDN endpoints worldwide to collect anonymous performance statistics. This data is used exclusively to improve routing decisions and automatically optimise streaming performance.

## Resumable Playback and Viewer Preferences

Resumable playback is managed entirely within the user's browser using Browser Local Storage on the user's device. No playback information is shared with or stored by bunny.net. The playback position is written while the video plays, each time the browser reports playback progress, and it is removed when the video plays to the end. It is not sent anywhere, and it stays on the device until the video finishes or the user clears their browser's site data. This design allows users to resume playback while ensuring that all playback data remains stored exclusively on the user's device.

The player keeps viewer preferences the same way. Captions, volume, mute, playback speed and the time display mode are stored in Browser Local Storage, scoped to the video library, and are only written when the viewer changes a setting in the player. Nothing is written before the viewer presses play or interacts with the controls.

Both can be switched off per embed. `rememberPosition=false` disables the saved position, and `rememberSettings=false` disables all stored preferences, the position included, so the player neither reads nor writes Browser Local Storage. See [Embedding videos](https://bunny.net/docs/stream/embedding.md) for the full parameter list.
